Between the outside of the walls and the moat are long beds with different planting schemes. As we leave the Walled Kitchen Garden through the double gate, before crossing George Carter’s bridge into the Wild Flower Garden, there is a border planned to flower in late summer. The colour scheme is pink, silver and white. Nicotiana ‘Sensation Mixed’ are planted annually between shrubs such as Viburnum ‘Hillieri’, ‘Carlessii’ and ‘Judii’, Spiraea ‘Gold Flame’, Hebe and pink and white Hydrangeas. Late-flowering Clematis scramble through roses and shrubs.
